Can I Go From Anal To Vaginal And Use The Same Condom?
No!
There’s bacteria in the anus that can cause serious infections when introduced to the vagina, so if you’re switching from anal to vaginal take a minute to stop and change condoms.
You may also want to switch lubes at this point too. The vagina and the anus have very different pH levels, so often times a lube that’s pH balanced for anal won’t be great for the vagina.
Never thought about pH and your genitals before? I’m not surprised, most people don’t. The pH of the vagina is around 3.8 - 4.5 and you want a lube that’s in that same pH range.
The pH of the rectum is around 7 - 8 so when you’re doing butt stuff, you want to use a lube that’s close to that range.
Bottom line – when you switch from anal to vaginal you need to get a new condom and possibly change the lube. And if you’re not using a condom, then you need to wash the penis, and wash it well, before you switch from anal to vaginal.
Same thing goes for anything else that’s going from anal to vaginal, including fingers and sex toys.
Until next time, be safe and have fun!
