Is Anal Sex For A Female Dangerous?

Is Anal Sex For A Female Dangerous?

It kind of depends on what you mean by dangerous.

Can it be risky in terms of STIs? Yes.

Regardless of gender, anyone engaging in anal sex that doesn’t use a condom is at a higher risk of contracting an STI compared to vaginal sex. The reason for this is that the tissue of the anus is more likely to tear.

Using a condom, either an internal one or an external, one, will help to reduce this risk, making it safer.

Can it be potentially painful? Yes.

The anus doesn’t self-lubricate like the vagina does, which means if you’re not using lube then it can be painful. I don’t know if that counts as dangerous in your book, but if pain isn’t something you’re into, then this is a concern.

The good news is that there are a lot of lubes on the market that are available for anal sex. The things you want to be careful of is that not every lube is safe to use with condoms. Water based lubes are safe for all condoms, but you may want something  that’s a little thicker for anal sex.

Oil-based lubes are thicker, but shouldn’t be used with latex condoms. Silicone lubes are thicker than water based ones, and are safe to use with condoms, but shouldn’t be used with silicone toys.

Even with lube, some people can find anal sex uncomfortable so its important to talk to your partner about their comfort level and yours, and that you both be willing to stop if it doesn’t feel good for whatever reason.

Until next time, be safe and have fun!
