Do Women Have Wet Dreams?

Do Women Have Wet Dreams?

The short answer is yes, they can.

But they may be slightly different then the wet dreams that men experience.

Let me start by explaining what wet dreams are, since some people may not use that phrase.

The more technical term for a wet dream is a nocturnal emission. I’ve also heard them called sex dreams or sleep orgasms. I think that last one sums it up pretty well.

A wet dream is when you have a dream that results in orgasm and/or ejaculation. I separate those two out because they don’t always happen together.

While the dream may be erotic it doesn’t have to be.

What causes them to happen is a bit of an unknown. We know that they’re usually tied to hormone levels.  This is why they tend to happen during puberty. We also know they happen when people are in REM sleep.

We often associate these with men, mostly because men report them more often. Also it’s a lot more noticeable  in men. There tends to be ejaculation so there’s fluid that needs to be cleaned up when he wakes up.

Women can also have wet dreams. But they may not be as noticeable. Women are more likely to sleep through them, and there’s usually a whole lot less fluid to clean up. Many women may not even call them wet dreams since we tend to associate them with men.

There may be some of you reading this who’ve never had a wet dream, and are wondering what’s wrong with you. The answer is nothing is wrong with you. Not all people experience wet dreams, and that’s also normal.

Until next time, be safe, have fun and sweet dreams!
