How Much Sex Is Too Much / Little?

How Much Sex Is Too Much / Little?

Let me start by frustrating people who are just looking for a quick answer. There is no one answer to this question.

When it comes to too much or too little sex, it really depends on the person. Some people like to have sex every day, and if they can’t do that they would feel as if they’re having too little sex.

Some people don’t really think sex is all that important, and if they were in a position where a partner was asking them to have sex multiple times a week, then that might feel like too much.

It’s really about whether or not you’re happy with the frequency that you’re having sex. And so many things can impact that.

Whether or not you’re currently partnered, your general health, your stress levels, the medications you’re taking, your age, your cultural and religious upbringing… all of these things can impact how much you want sex. And that’s in no way an exhaustive list.

Another thing that can impact how much we want to have sex, is the reason why we’re having it.

What we often don’t talk about is that there a lot of reasons why people have sex. Some do it simply because they enjoy it. Some do it because it helps their ego and makes them feel as if someone wants them. Some people do it feel bonded with their partner.

Some people have sex with the main goal of getting pregnant. Some people have sex because they feel as if it’s expected of them in a relationship.

Some people do it because they’re horny, or because they’re bored, or to get revenge on a current or former partner. Some do it because they were under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.

Think about it – the last time you had sex, why did you do it?

But let me circle back to the question. If you’re having sex so often that you’re neglecting other responsibilities, like school or work, than that can be a problem. From a physical standpoint, if you’re having a lot of sex, you might find that you’re having swelling, or skin irritation, in your genital area. You can address the irritation part by using a lube that works with the type of sex you’re having, and any barrier methods you may be using.

While there have been some… interesting… studies about what happens to the body if you don’t have sex frequently, I wouldn’t worry about physical issues from having too little sex.

Instead of focusing on the amount and wondering if it’s too much or too little, I would think about whether or not you’re happy with how much sex you’re having.

Until next time, be safe and have fun!
