Is The G-Shot Worth It? Is It Safe?
Let me talk about what the g-shot is first, and then we can look at the safety issue. And whether or not it’s worth it.
For the g-shot a dermal filler is going to be injected directly into the G-spot. The filler used is usually hyaluronic acid. The filler will cause the area to become slightly larger and more sensitive.
If you’re not sure where the G-spot is, it’s on the anterior wall of the vagina. That’s the front wall. And it’s about 2 inches inside the opening of the vagina.
Here’s a picture of a woman lying on her back. (Ignore the black lines all over the place. It’s from a textbook image and I didn’t want to include the names of all the body parts). The big yellow arrow is pointing to the G-spot.
Back to the g-shot. They will do a shot to numb the area first. So if you’ve got a fear of needles, this may be an issue for you.
After you’re numb, they inject the hyaluronic acid into the G-spot and that’s it.
You may have a little bit of bleeding afterwards. They warn you that you may feel a bit of pain after as well. I can’t really give you an idea of how much “a bit” is since pain is so subjective.
You’ll want to wait a few hours after the shot to engage in sex play.
Theoretically the shot lasts 3 – 4 months.
Let’s address the “is it safe” part. If it’s done by a professional who knows that they’re doing, and the professional uses an FDA approved filler, then it’s considered safe.
That doesn’t mean there may not be complications. Like pain and swelling. And some minor bleeding, which usually occurs right after the procedure. There could also be some bruising, though that should go away after a few days.
It is also possible for there to be increased sensitivity all the time. Not just during sex play, but all. the. time. This isn’t a common side effect, but it can be an uncomfortable one.
There is also a risk of infection, but that’s pretty much true any time a needle is involved.
So now the “is it worth it” part of the question. I can’t actually answer that for you.
If you didn’t know where the G-spot was before I explained it earlier, then I would suggest spending more time getting to know that area of your body.
You can reach it on your own. Your partner can reach it with their hands. And there are sex toys designed to target the G-spot that are cheaper than a procedure, and don’t come with the same potential complications as the g-shot.
You may find that you don’t actually like G-spot stimulation. Some women love having pressure put on their G-spot. Some women don’t mind it, and some women don’t like it at all!
So before considering getting an injection there, you might want to see if you even like G-spot stimulation. And if you do, you may find that making sure to target it during sex play feels so good that you may not need a procedure done.
Another thing to keep in mind is that the g-shot probably won’t be covered by your insurance. And the cost in the US is usually somewhere around $2000.
A lot to think about, I know, which is why I can’t tell you if it’s worth it for you. Only you can decide that given how you feel about G-spot stimulation, the costs, and the fact that it lasts for only a few months.
Before I end this, the educator part of my brain is not really happy with the G-spot explanation I gave before. So I’m going to appease it by adding a couple more sentences.
While the G-spot is a spot that I can give you general directions to, it’s much more complicated than that below the surface. It’s part of the clitoral structure. I know we tend to only focus on the outside part of the clitoris that we can see, but there’s way more going on below the surface. And the G-spot is part of that.
Now my educator brain is a little happier.
Until next time, be safe, and have fun!
