Can A Tennis Ball Get Stuck Inside The Womb?

I’m going to do something I’m not supposed to do when posting articles, I’m going to just answer the question.

No, a tennis ball can’t get stuck in the womb.

Contrary to what so many of us were taught when we were little, babies don’t grow in mommy’s stomach, they grow inside the womb. One of the problems with saying that babies grow in the stomach is that it leads people to believe that you can put things in from the top end.

Check out the picture of the womb – see, no entrance from the top end. There are two ways in, from the fallopian tubes and from the cervix.

The fallopian tubes coming off either side of the womb are about 1 mm at the opening. You’re not getting a green pea in there let alone a tennis ball.

See where the dark red area narrows about midway down the picture? That’s the cervix, and it’s also super narrow. So basically nothing like a tampon or tennis ball is getting past it to make it inside the womb.

The tube leading up to the cervix is the vagina, and while things can get stuck up there, they can’t get lost. Check out this post for more information about that.

Until next time, be safe and have fun!
