Why When I Hold Back And Don’t Ejaculate When I Need To I Lose My Erection?
Let me start by saying that this is really common!
An erection is based on stimulation. That stimulation can be either mental or physical, or a combination of both.
If you lose that stimulation, then you’re also going to lose your erection. And that can happen when you hold back.
If the sexual activity you’re engaging in, whether it’s solo or with a partner, isn’t turning you on physically, then that can cause you to lose your erection.
If you start to get into your head too much, that can do it too. What I mean by that is that you start overthinking how everything is going. If you’re with a partner maybe you’re overthinking about whether or not they’re enjoying it. Or maybe you’re worried you’re not going to last, or you’re going to ejaculate too soon. All of this being in your head can cause you to lose your erection.
Technically speaking, if this happens often it could be diagnosed as erectile dysfunction. While most people think of erectile dysfunction as an inability to get an erection, it also includes the inability to maintain an erection.
I want to be clear that I am not diagnosing you with erectile dysfunction!
But I want to talk a bit about some of the reasons why erectile dysfunction happens, because that might be part of what’s happening here.
There are certain drugs that can make it hard to maintain an erection. Some of them aren’t prescription, like alcohol, marijuana, and nicotine.
There are a lot of prescription medications that can impact erection. I’m not going to list them all, but some common ones are anti-depressants, antihistamines, and medications for high blood pressure.
If this problem started around the same time you started a new medication, that might be part of the issue.
DO NOT stop taking your medications! Instead you should talk to the doctor who prescribed the medication and let them know what’s happening. They may be able to lower the dose or give you a similar medication that may not have sexual side effects.
Problems with erection can also be tied to some physical issues, like diabetes, heart disease, and thyroid issues. So if you are dealing with any of these, that might be contributing to the issue.
My advice would be to try and think about what’s happening in your life in general. And also what’s happening when you lose your erection.
Are you in your head too much? Are you worried about losing your erection? If so, then I recommend trying to stop thinking about it, and just enjoy what’s happening. I know, easier said than done. But it’s worth a shot.
Are you losing interest in what’s happening? If so, you might to change what you’re doing. If you’re with a partner, try doing something different. Maybe a different type of sex play or a different position can help you get turned on again.
If all this started happening right around the time that you started a new medication, then talk to your doctor. Same if you recently got a new diagnosis about a mental or physical issue.
If you’re using some recreational drugs, you may to want back off those for a bit and see if that help. Even if they were never an issue for your erections in the past, they might be part of the problem now.
